About The Charlie

Charlie came into our lives when she was just four months old. Her previous owner decided to let her go because their older dog didn’t take well to having a playful puppy around. That choice became our blessing. Today, Charlie is almost three years old and she has grown into the sweetest golden retriever we could ever hope for.

She shares her days with two older brothers, Patrick the rottweiler and Berry the lab. They are her constant playmates. From sunup to sundown, you’ll find them chasing each other in the yard or sharing quiet moments on the porch. But if Charlie isn’t roughhousing with her brothers, she’s off chasing her favorite little friend, a butterfly that visits our garden often. Watching her bounce through the grass after that tiny creature is pure joy.

Charlie’s love for water is unmatched. If we’re taking a shower, you can bet she’s there, stepping right in with a happy tail wag. Bath time or no bath time, she doesn’t care. As long as there’s water, she’s thrilled. When it comes time to sleep, Charlie finds the strangest positions to curl into. Legs twisted, head buried, belly up, you name it. Yet somehow, she always looks perfectly content.

Each morning is a race. Charlie waits patiently at the top of the stairs until she sees me move toward the kitchen. Then she bolts, always beating me to her breakfast bowl. Eating is her second favorite hobby, right behind taking trips in the car. Say “bye-bye” and watch her light up. A quick drive to the local coffee shop for a “pup cup” is her idea of the perfect outing.

Among all our dogs, Charlie stands out for her gentle heart. Patrick and Berry are wonderful and loyal, but Charlie is something else. She greets everyone with instant love, her tail thumping and eyes sparkling. She has a way of making guests feel like lifelong friends.

Sometimes she tries to climb into my lap when I’m in the recliner. Golden retrievers aren’t built for scaling chairs, so she usually ends up with her front half draped over me, back legs dangling. But to her, that’s close enough. If dogs didn’t sleep eighteen hours a day, I’m sure Charlie would fill every minute with play.

Charlie is more than a pet. She’s pure love on four paws, and we’re lucky she chose us as her family.
